Sonya Stokes-Beasley, MSSW, LCSW

Co-Founder, Vice President & Therapist

Sonya Stokes-Beasley was born and raised in Middle Tennessee. She attended Union University obtaining a BS degree in Psychology and then went on to The University of Tennessee for graduate school where she completed a Master’s of Science in Social Work. She has been licensed in the state of Tennessee as a psychotherapist (LCSW) since 2008. She was the clinical director of services at Rolling Hills Psychiatric Hospital in Williamson County at it’s opening in 2009. She later went to work for Anthem in 2014 which is where she remains today. She has also practiced independently and after losing her son, Bane Beasley, suddenly in 2010 to bacterial meningitis she and her husband founded a local 501©3 called Banebow, Inc. She currently serves as Vice President and primary therapist at Banebow, Inc. Sonya currently resides in Franklin, TN with her husband, three children, and a posse of pets.

Drason Beasley is from right here in Middle Tennessee having been raised on the backroads of Dickson County. He attended Lane College (HBCU) to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 2005. He has worked for the Williamson County Government since 2005 and currently serves as the Director of the Williamson County Juvenile Detention Center. After the sudden loss of his son, Bane Beasley, in 2010 to bacterial meningitis he co-founded local nonprofit and 501©3, Banebow, Inc. He also currently serves as the president of Banebow, Inc. and assists in its fundraising efforts. He also loves cooking and competing in local BBQ competitions in his free time. Drason lives in Franklin, Tennessee with his wife and three amazing children.

Like her husband, Chip, who currently serves on Banebow’s Board of Directors, Sara Kate Hooper is a native of middle Tennessee. A graduate of Rhodes College in Memphis, she later obtained a Master’s of Science degree in Professional Counseling from Lipscomb University. Since 2010, Sara Kate has served as a counselor in the mental health field in private, non-profit, and corporate settings and currently holds a LPC-MHSP license in Tennessee. While working in the Admissions Department at Rolling Hills Hospital, she first met Sonya Stokes-Beasley and became a supporter of Banebow after witnessing Sonya’s passion to help families who have experienced the unimaginable loss of a child. Little did Sara Kate know that just a few years later, this same organization would be supporting her after the devastating loss of her own son, Pearse, who passed away within minutes of his birth in 2018. Through the grieving and healing process, Sara Kate knew, like Sonya, that she also wanted to help families who have experienced the tragic loss of a child. So, in 2021 when Sonya approached her to join Banebow as a therapist, Sara Kate eagerly agreed. She and Chip currently live in Spring Hill, Tennessee with their two sons, and dog, Diesel.

Fundraising Coordinator , Secretary, Board of Directors

Ashley Gray Fussell serves on our Board of Directors and is our Board Secretary. Additionally, Ashley serves as the Fundraising Coordinator at Banebow, Inc. She has filled these roles since Banebow’s inception in 2010. Ashley was born and raised in middle Tennessee. She completed her pre-pharmacy coursework at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, and she received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2005. Presently, Ashley works as a clinical pharmacist for a national specialty pharmacy. Ashley currently resides in Dickson, Tennessee with her husband, Chad, and their fur baby, Jack Jack. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, mission work, cooking, planning events, and spending time with her family and friends.

Richard was born in England and moved to the USA when he was 12. He made his way to Middle Tennessee via Baltimore, MD and Charleston, SC where he met his wife. He has lived in Franklin, Tennessee for close to 20 years now with his wife Dana, five children, two dogs, cat and leopard gecko. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting at MTSU and has since held an array of executive positions in Finance and Operations in the Medical and Logistics industries. In his spare time he loves to coach soccer and spend time with his family and friends.

Cheryl Touchton, BS

Cheryl Touchton is an Atlanta, GA native and has lived in Middle Tennessee since 1998. She earned a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from the University of South Carolina and has spent the bulk of her career in sales/account management in organizations connected to the healthcare industry. Currently, she is Client Success Manager for Ascom, a global solutions provider focused on healthcare ICT and mobile workflow solutions. Cheryl resides in Franklin, TN with her husband Paul. After their daughter Lydia died suddenly from an undiagnosed heart condition in early 2019, she connected to Banebow at the recommendation of a friend who is a Banebow supporter. Cheryl is a former client and through her Banebow experience has become passionate about the mission of the organization. She now serves on the Banebow Board of Directors. She enjoys walking/hiking, travel, conversing over coffee, and spending time with family-especially her daughter, son-in-law and 3 young grand children.

Russell W. “Chip” Hooper III

Russell W. “Chip” Hooper III

Chip Hooper is a middle Tennessee native whose family goes back several generations in the area. He attended Belmont University’s School of Music Business in Nashville Tennessee and currently works as a private family portfolio manager. He has previously served as a board member for Battle of Franklin Trust, Historic Franklin Masonic Hall, and Maury County Historical Society. In 2018, Chip and his wife lost their infant son, Pearse, to a rare birth defect known as Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). This was a devastating loss for their family but Chip and his wife sought comfort and healing via Banebow and he now serves on their Board of Directors.

Baloy A. Vasquez, BS

Baloy A. Vasquez has spent his life in both Texas and Tennessee. He obtained both a BS in Computer Science and a B.S in Mathematics from Saint Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. He spent much of his career with HCA working as their Consultant Application Engineer for the Financial System and Billing. He recently retired from HCA and enjoys spending his time playing golf and the guitar. Baloy became associated with Banebow following the 2013 loss of his son, Aaron, and now serves on their Board of Directors.

Brett Reynolds

Brett was born and raised in Dickson, Tennessee where he still resides and is an active member of the community. He serves on the Board of Directors for Tristar Horizon HCA, CASA of Dickson, Clement Hotel Museum, and Community Foundation of Dickson. Brett was part of the Leadership Middle Tennessee class of 2014. He has been in the banking industry for more than 13 years and currently serves as the Commercial Banking and Relations Manager at First Bank of Dickson. When not working he can be found fishing, duck hunting or hiking with his family. Brett has been married for almost 20 years to his lovely wife, Caryn, and they have four children and a doggie named Scout.
